Terms & conditions for Bedgebury Park. Equestrian facilities & activities

1. Riding and safety - clothing and equipment

1.1 All riders must wear a riding hat conforming to BSI standards at all times whilst mounted.

1.2 When using the Cross Country Course a body protector conforming to current safety standards must be worn, plus a skull cap conforming to BSI standards without a fixed peak.

1.3 Suitable footwear must be worn when mounted (small heel and flat sole).

1.4 Care of each riders’ personal equipment is the sole responsibility of the rider.

2. Use of Bedgebury Park’s arenas and facilities

2.1 Use of the facilities and/or lesson bookings must be paid for at the time of booking.  No refunds will be given but we will happily re-book with a minimum of 24 hours notice.

2.2 When using the Cross Country Course or hacking all riders must be accompanied by another responsible person who must have a mobile phone to call for assistance if required.

2.3 When hacking on your own you must inform the yard of your intended route, estimated time of hack and carry a mobile phone.

2.4 Other people may be using the facilities at the same time, riders and the people accompanying them must not cause a nuisance or disturbance.

2.5 Bedgebury Park is not responsible for ground conditions or damage to the ground.

2.6 Bedgebury Park is not responsible for any damage to the cross country or show jumping fences caused by other users.

2.7 After using the facilities all equipment you have used is to be returned to their original position, droppings removed from the arenas and any breakages or damage reported.

2.8 By using the facilities, riders, trainers or person responsible accepts they have surveyed the facilities and any obstacles such as show jumps, cross country fences and the ground conditions and understand that they are responsible for assessing suitability.

2.9 All riders using Bedgebury Park horses will be required to complete and pay for an assessment lesson before continuing with their chosen activity.

2.10 Riders are requested to arrive for their lesson or hack 15 minutes before the session is due to start.

3. Bedgebury Park yard rules

3.1 Any dogs on the premises must be kept on a lead at all times. Any dog foul must be cleared up immediately. Bedgebury Park cannot be held responsible for any accident caused by or to a dog whilst on the premises.

3.2 No glass or breakables to be taken onto any of the facilities, all rubbish to be placed into rubbish bins provided or taken home, all droppings are to be removed from the parking area.

3.3 No smoking on the yard.

3.4 Bedgebury Park will not accept any responsibility for any minors left unsupervised.

3.5 Any accidents are to be reported to the office and be recorded in the accident book.

3.6 All riders will be required to read our terms and conditions, fill out and sign our registration form before using our facilities.

3.7 Bedgebury Park staff reserve the right to ask any person to leave the premises if they feel that their behaviour endangers the health and safety of others or affects equine welfare.

4. Insurance requirements

4.1 Trainers, coaches, teachers or any person responsible for a rider must hold public liability insurance.

4.2 Any employer bringing staff to the premises must hold employer’s liability insurance.

4.3 Bedgebury Park recommends that horses using the facilities are insured for third party liability, injury and vet fees

4.4 Bedgebury Park strongly recommends riders hold personal accident cover.

Bedgebury Park does not accept liability for any loss, damage, injury or illness to riders, horses, owners, spectators, property, vehicles and their contents whatsoever. Riding, working and handling horses can be dangerous and horses can be unpredictable. Persons using our facilities do so at their own risk.

These terms must be read, understood and our registration form completed and returned to the office prior to any mounting or teaching at Bedgebury Park. Any person found using the facilities having not signed the disclaimer shall be asked to leave immediately.
